Pentland Film Society 21st March: “The Father” 7.30 pm

Anthony (played by Anthony Hopkins) is a roguishly handsome and cantankerous old widower, a retired engineer who lives on his own in a spacious, well-appointed apartment in west London.  As he becomes unable to look after himself and gradually succumbs to dementia he struggles to make sense of his changing circumstances and begins to doubt his loved ones and even his own mind. Uncompromisingly poignant, this film warmly embraces real life and the human condition.
